From the Lapeer Downtown Business Association:

Downtown Lapeer businesses are putting up 120 LHS Flags this week to celebrate Lapeer High School’s successful hometown football players, cheer team, and marching band members. The flags have vertical panels of the official Lightning blue/green color combination.

At a special “flag raising” event on Wednesday, October 7, Superintendent Matt Wandrie and Dan Osentoski, President of the Downtown Business Association hung the first of 120 flags in front of Osentoski Insurance Agency at 340 W. Nepessing Street.

Forty (40) downtown businesses contributed to purchase the 120 flags and poles.   “The flags are displayed on 60 light poles along Nepessing Street in the downtown area and will remain in place through the football team’s playoff run,” according to Osentoski.

“We will also display the flags the week of Swing-out in June,” says Osentoski, “and we plan to do an annual sponsorship campaign to add more flags each year. Our long term plan is to add flags each year so that all 150 light poles in the downtown area will display the LHS spirit flags.
