Josef Perry, an impressive student-athlete from Lapeer East High School, will compete at the next level in two sports, football and wrestling. On Monday, Josef was joined by friends, family and members of the staff at East to celebrate his decision to attend Alma College in the fall.
East Athletic Director Sharon Miller said if anyone is capable of playing two sports at a school like Alma, it’s Josef.
Both his football and wrestling coaches showed up to congratulate him on his great high school career. Jake Weingartz, East head football coach, said Josef set a great example for his teammates.
“I had the pleasure of coaching Joe for three years,” he said. “By far in my coaching career, he is hands-down one of the hardest-working players I’ve been around. Not only is he a great player, he’s an even better young man off the field … he carries himself with integrity and character, and that’s a tribute to his great parents.”
Josef will major in Education at Alma and pursue a career in Elementary Education.
Congrats on your accomplishment and thank you for representing Lapeer Community Schools in such a positive manner.
