The Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education has approved a two-year master agreement with the Lapeer Education Association, the union representing the district’s teachers. The agreement was approved Thursday night during a special meeting held prior to the Board’s monthly work session.
The Board has now approved master agreements with all of the District’s seven bargaining units. The settlement with each unit and non-union members, included a significant reduction in total compensation to reconcile the District’s remaining budget deficit without dipping into fund equity.
LCS Superintendent Matt Wandrie said he was pleased with the outcome and the strong message of fiscal responsibility it sends.
“When this process began, we had a clear directive from the Board to maintain quality student programming while balancing the budget,” Wandrie said. “I think we can all be proud of the fact that we followed through on their directive and got the job done. We are very grateful for all the hard work done by representatives on both sides of the table.”
