On May 22, 68 members of the Zemmer Middle School Marching Band traveled to Sandusky, Ohio to march the midway at Cedar Point Amusement Park. Four bands marched that day, the other three were all high school bands. The parade was approximately 20 minutes long and provided entertainment for the early park visitors. Once finished with their performance, the band members had over 6 hours to explore the rides and entertainment at the park before heading back to Lapeer that evening.
The students worked hard as most had little to no marching experience before rehearsing for this event. They held after school and evening rehearsals in the Zemmer parking lot to prepare. Music was memorized so the students could concentrate more on marching fundamentals. Student music directors were Ginger Eastman and Raven Wright. Sam Hart led the band as drumline/marching captain. Lori Liley is the director of Zemmer Bands and Deb Barber is the drumline instructor.
This was an awesome performance and one of the highlights of the year for the band program at Zemmer.
