Sign Up Today: McLaren Lapeer Region and Lapeer Community Schools Partner to Offer Students Telehealth Services

In partnership with McLaren Lapeer Region, Lapeer Community Schools will be providing school-based healthcare via telehealth in the coming school year. Students grade 6-12 will have access to a board-certified family practice provider not only while at school, but also at home, free of charge. This partnership was made available by grant funding from the McLaren Lapeer Region Foundation.

The goal of this program is to provide early recognition and treatment of illness; reduce student absenteeism; provide immediate or scheduled access to high-quality care by a board -certified family practice physician; alleviate the burden of school staff to care for students with illnesses and increase convenience for parents with quick diagnosis and prescription readiness.

All appointments during school hours will take place in a private room with special telehealth technology including peripheral devices that are easy for the young adult to use with minimal instructions including stethoscope, otoscope and pulse oximeter. The technology also has a video conferencing component that will allow for parents to be a part of the appointment without being physically present.

This program is for all Lapeer Community School students in grades 6-12. To participate, a student’s parent or guardian must complete and enrollment form that includes consent. The parent or guardian must also create an account for their child to use including past medical history, current medication, preferred pharmacy and primary care physician or pediatrician. Lapeer Community Schools will be communicating with the parents of eligible children during enrollment periods and throughout the school year.
