Laura Overland started her career volunteering in the classroom in Imlay City and was quickly hired in as a custodian. Once she made the move to Lapeer Community Schools, she never looked back.
While Laura may not be recognized out and about by all the students, she has literally made a career of picking up the pieces and putting schools back together schools. Her work has had a major impact on all students that have passed through the multiple buildings Laura has been assigned to.
If you want to find Laura after retirement, try checking for her Up North combing the woods in search of the elusive morel mushroom, at the local Chinese restaurant (so if you are in search of a gift think about taking her out for lunch!), reading a good book, at the Casino, or at her house being mom. She loves taking care of her family, which includes her four children – she cherishes her family above everything else.
We wish you the best in retirement Laura! Thank you for all you’ve done for the staff and students at Lapeer Community Schools.
