Lapeer Football to raise awareness of heart checks in honor of Anthony Herbert

Friday night’s game football game against Carman-Ainsworth at Fitzpatrick Field in Lapeer will honor the memory of former Lightning lineman Anthony Herbert. The inaugural Heart Health Football awareness game will promote heart screening for students in our community.

Our players will have a decal on their helmets in memory of Anthony and fans will receive rally towels to promote heart checks.

There will also be opportunities to donate to ensure more students have access to heart checks. Each year, far too many students die from sudden cardiac arrest due to conditions that can often be detected early on. Heart checks can save lives.

Anthony, who was beloved by his teammates, coaches and all who knew him, passed away in January 2017 due to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Please consider honoring the memory of Anthony by attending the game and donating to this important cause.
