From Karen Allmen, LCS Learning Coach:

All five LCS elementary schools were represented in this year’s Michigan Reading Association Kaleidoscope student writing publication – it’s put together once a year with student writing K-12 from across the state.

Last Sunday, at the MRA conference, the Young Author’s luncheon was held to celebrate the Kaleidoscope authors, and all five of our authors were in attendance, along with their families.  They heard a presentation by published author Ryan Hipp and participated in a medal ceremony.

Congratulations to the following students:

• Julian Culver, 1st grade at Schickler:  “My Batman Suit”
• Brooklyn Elizondo, 4th grade at Mayfield:  “Odie’s Surprise Birthday Party”
• Gabrielle Mirza, 5th grade at Murphy:  “A River of Tears:  The Myth of How the Danube River Came to Be”
• Alanna Rundell, 5th grade at Lynch:  “Pleasant Summer Day?”
• Matthew Smith, 5th grade at Turrill:  “After Dawn”
