Work of five Zemmer students now on display at Flint Public Library

The Michigan Art Education Association Region 10 art show is currently on exhibit until the end of the month at The Flint Public Library.

Five 8th grade students from Zemmer Middle School had work submitted to the show: Marissa Auxier, Isabella Hathaway, Gabrielle Malson, and Emily Johnson. All five were selected to travel to Lansing for the next level of judging. Only two came back to Flint as three of the pieces were selected to be on display at the GRAM (Grand Rapids Art Museum) from April 4 – 11. Of these three pieces, the drawings done by Syndey Nass and Gabrielle Malson were placed in the top 100 of all middle school works submitted in the state of Michigan. Sydney created a series of three well-designed drawings: realistic, abstract, and non-objective of Pointe shoes. Gabrielle drew a small but beautifully rendered bucket in the grass using a variety of graphite pencils.

The colorful Fauvist acrylic still-life painting created by Emily Johnson was selected as one of the top 15 of all middle school works in the state. These students have also been invited to attend a workshop and reception at the conclusion of the art show. The workshops are being held at Kendall College of Art and Design followed by the awards ceremony to be held at the GRAM.

Great job, students!
