From Amy Linton, Lapeer West Art Teacher: Again this year Lapeer West’s Studio Art students helped to create portraits for orphans through “The Memory Project” organization. Each year students offer their talents to create a portrait for them. This year 12 students participated. On Friday, we received a photo of each of the students holding their own personal portrait. We were also fortunate to receive a video that offers us a chance to see first hand the impact this project has had on the youth in Mexico.
It was fabulous to see the Studio Art students personal reactions to the children receiving their portraits. I believe this project had just as much of a positive impact on the artists as it did the youth in Mexico.
