Lapeer West’s studio artists participate in The Memory Project

From Amy Linton, Lapeer West Art Teacher: Again this year Lapeer West’s Studio Art students helped to create portraits for orphans through “The Memory Project” organization. Each year students offer their talents to create a portrait for them. This year 12 students participated. On Friday, we received a photo of each of the students holding their own personal portrait. We were also fortunate to receive a video that offers us a chance to see first hand the impact this project has had on the youth in Mexico.

It was fabulous to see the Studio Art students personal reactions to the children receiving their portraits. I believe this project had just as much of a positive impact on the artists as it did the youth in Mexico.

If you have a moment, click on the links below. The first is for the video and the second is where you can view the images of the youth with their drawings.

The Studio Art students who participated in this project were:

Morgan Miller
Jackie Richards
Jessica Laidler
Tori Carlson
Shannon Morse
