East senior Angela Ciaravino made her commitment to Oakland University official on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday afternoon, the media center at Lapeer East High School was bursting at the seams with family, friends and staff members from East. More than 100 people came out to support East senior Angela Ciaravino, who signed a track scholarship with Oakland University.

Manny Schmidt, head varsity girls track coach at East, attempted to put into words what Ciaravino has meant to the program.

“I don’t think Oakland (University) has any idea what a treasure they’re getting,” he said. “She has been a great source of pride for this community.”

Congratulations Angela on your big day! All your hard work has paid off. Best of luck!

Thank you to future Lapeer High School AD Brian Shelson for putting together a first-class signing ceremony.
