The Detroit Red Wings School Assembly Program made a big impression on the students of Mayfield Elementary on Monday afternoon. The purpose of the assembly is to highlight the importance of setting goals, staying active and being great teammates. Students were also reminded that it is important to get 60 minutes of exercise every day.

The students learned about the importance of education and dedication to meeting their goals, and even competed in a friendly shootout with their teachers (it was a draw, as both teams had impenetrable goalies).

The Detroit Red Wings Foundation also donated two sets of hockey equipment to Mayfield for all the students to enjoy.
