Lapeer Chimeras (robotics team) qualifies for World Championship in St. Louis

CMP-Header'13-FRC-760p-webThe Lapeer Chimeras (ky-mare-ahs) FRC team 1684 has qualified for the FIRST World Championship by accumulating points throughout the competition season (March 1 – April 14). The team will represent Michigan along with 33 other teams. Some teams qualify by winning awards in addition to merit-based qualification.

The Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis will host 400 teams in four divisions of 100 teams each. Unlike all other sports, elimination rounds are made up alliances of three teams each. The winning alliances of the four divisions will compete to determine the world champion alliance. So three teams will receive gold medals, three teams will receive silver, etc.

The divisions are named after scientific heroes – Archimedes, Galileo, Newton, and Curie. The Chimeras are in the Curie division with 99 other teams from around the world.
