Pictured above are eight Advanced Metals students at Lapeer East High School posing with a new Miller 212 welder purchased with funds awarded by the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society (MITES). This new piece of equipment gives East’s shop the technology to weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum. It also gives students the capability to weld larger, more complex projects than their smaller machines.
East instructor Cory Gutenschwager said the machine has gained popularity among the advanced students since it arrived in the fall.
“I’m very pleased with the quality of work I see East students demonstrating,” he said.
