The Lapeer Area View ran a story on the recent generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer to Lapeer Community Schools. LCS Executive Director of Elementary Education, Heather Vance (right), accepted a check for $7,500 that will be used for the purchase of picture books.
Vance said the picture books correlate directly with the curriculum used in the classroom, and the long-term goal is to have one of each of the books in every classroom in the district. The donation from the Kiwanis Club, said Vance, will be huge step forward with the project and will allow the school district to purchase one of each of the picture books for every school.
Jeff Clemens, Kiwanis Club vice president, and the rest of the Kiwanis Club members presented the check to Vance on Wednesday after she spoke about the project and the district’s goals.
