The Lapeer East Girls’ Golf Team qualified for the state tournament on Thursday by finishing third out of 15 teams at the Regional tournament in very tough, windy conditions at the Flint Elks Country Club. The team shot 373 and was one of only four teams to shoot below 400.
The team was led by Audrey Fleming who finished in third place overall (out of 74 golfers) with an 87. Sierra Woodcum finished tied for fourth overall with an 89. Meghan Gordon carded a 94, Abby Kanasty rounded out the scoring with a 103 and Megan Culbert also contributed to the effort with a 109. Next week the team will travel to Grand Valley to participate in the State Tournament.
