Kudos: Heather Hundt striking a chord with LCS musicians

Heather Hundt, Director of Bands at Rolland-Warner Middle Schools, is making preparations for Thursday's Christmas performance at Lapeer East's Auditorium.

From the Superintendent’s blog:

For anyone who has ever spent any time in a middle school band room, this much is a certainty: It takes a special person to teach music to students in their early teens. In our District, we’ve struck the tonic chord with Heather Hundt.

Heather is the Director of Bands at Rolland-Warner Middle School and a tireless proponent of music in our schools.

Wendy Byard, a member of the Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education, was struck by her devotion to her students. Wendy wrote this about her work:

She is such an asset to our children and our community. Yes, she directs the bands at Rolland-Warner, but she also meets with many children after school to help them develop as musicians. She organizes and conducts after school band performances and solo ensembles. On December 3rd, she was on hand at the Michigan Schools Band & Orchestra (MSBOA) Solo and Ensemble Festival to cheer on her students who were participating. Heather is such a hardworking, dedicated, caring and friendly teacher. She also directs the choir at First Presbyterian Church in addition to raising four children! She really is awesome.

Heather said recently how fortunate she feels to work in a district that appreciates and supports its band program and directors. It’s our turn to return the favor.

To see Heather in action, check out the RWMS band’s Christmas performance at Lapeer East’s auditorium Thursday night. The 6th graders will be on stage at 7 p.m. followed by the 7-8th graders at 8 p.m.

Keep up the great work!
