This afternoon, LCS Superintendent Matt Wandrie spoke to a group of more than 100 at the bi-monthly Lapeer High School Alumni Association luncheon. This month’s luncheon was hosted at the National Guard Armory near downtown Lapeer.
Wandrie spoke about how Lapeer is unique in that it is a “generational community,” filled with people with deep roots. He spoke about the importance of staying connected, and touched upon the difficult and rewarding task of teaching every child in an ever-changing world.
(He also made a new friend after pulling out a lucky number in the 50/50 drawing.)
Richard Sullivan, the president of the alumni association, told the group that the scholarship fundraiser held last month at Castaway’s raised nearly $1,000 for local students.
The group also took donations for Holiday Depot, a great program that reaches out to local families in need around the holidays. Gary Oyster, among the four inductees into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor over the weekend, was also honored at the luncheon.
