Important message from Superintendent Matt Wandrie

On Thursday, June 6, the District was made aware of threatening messages regarding Rolland-Warner posted to a social media account. An anonymous tip was sent to District officials as part of our participation in the OK2SAY program. Once we were made aware of the messages, District officials, in cooperation with local law enforcement, immediately began an investigation.

We are currently investigating this situation with multiple local law enforcement agencies who are on campus. At this time, it appears that several students experienced a technology breach of an unknown origin to their personal social media accounts, and no immediate or credible threat exists.

Please contact the Rolland-Warner office at (810) 538-2334 if you have credible information as we continue to investigate the situation.

As we have stated numerous times in the past, threats against our schools are not something we can tolerate, even in a joking manner.

We want to assure you that the safety and security of our students and staff is, and always has been, our highest priority. As a District, we will continue to coordinate efforts with our law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our school and community.

In addition, we want to encourage all parents to communicate to students the serious consequences that accompany threats, verbal, written or otherwise. They will not be tolerated.

Furthermore, please encourage your children to share any and all information with a trusted adult regarding suspicions of threat-related activity.  The more we know, the safer we can keep our students and staff.

Regards,

Matt Wandrie

Superintendent
