LCS Board of Education Seeking Applicants for Vacated Trustee Seat

Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education Trustee Brad Haggadone, who was elected to the Lapeer County Board of Commissioners, recently submitted his resignation from the LCS Board of Education, effective December 31, 2022.

In his more than five years on the Board, Brad has been an incredible advocate for the students and staff of Lapeer Community Schools. We wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor and are confident that he will continue to be a strong voice for our schools in his private life.

By law, the LCS Board of Education must fill the new vacancy by appointment. The appointed member will complete the remainder of Haggadone’s term, which ends December 31, 2024. The seat will be placed on the ballot in the November 2024 election, for a six-year term that will begin January 1, 2025.

Anyone interested in being considered by the Board for this appointment must do so in writing to Mary Moss, Secretary to the Board of Education, at Mary.Moss@lapeerschools.org by noon on December 22, 2022. Interested persons should be prepared to have their candidacy evaluated in-person (unless a request is made for a private interview) at the January 4 regular board meeting at the Administration & Services Center (250 Second St., Lapeer). Board members will discuss the candidates in public and will make their determination at that meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. The new member will be sworn in at that time and immediately take their seat at the table.

To be eligible for this position, one must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Resident of the District, and of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days
  • A U.S. citizen
  • A registered voter in the District

E-mail questions to Jared Field, LCS Director of Communications, at jared.field@lapeerschools.org.
