LCS Welcomes Two New Administrators

Michele McKendry

We are excited to welcome a pair of new administrators to our team this summer! Michele McKendry, most recently a teacher in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District, will be the new Principal at Schickler Elementary. Michele will begin in this new position on July 1, following the departure of Katie Jordan. Michele, a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Central Michigan (Education) and Oakland University (M.Ed), has 18 years of experience in teaching in Michigan and Texas. In her most recent position, she held many leadership roles including acting principal. She resides in Grand Blanc.

Welcome, Michele!

Cayla Dowdall

Following the departure of Zach Hamilton, our associate principal at the Zemmer 8-9 Campus, we are excited to announce the hiring of Cayla Dowdall in the same position. Cayla, a Davison resident, has 11 years of teaching experience with Davison Community Schools. She has held numerous positions of leadership during her career including interim assistant principal, intersession coordinator, school improvement chair and more. She was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2014. Cayla earned a BA in Elementary Education and an MA in Public Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint. She will begin in her new position on July 1.

Please join us in welcoming Cayla to Lapeer!

Both Michele and Cayla will be introduced to the community at the LCS Board of Education regular meeting on June 30.

Finally, we want say thank you to Katie and Zach. We are grateful for their contributions to the District and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
