Making history: Three LHS students qualify as National AP Scholars

LAPEER, Michigan — Three Lapeer High School (LHS) students have qualified as National AP Scholars, an incredible honor bestowed only upon the highest of academic achievers.

In addition, 62 students at LHS have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the more than 2.5 million students worldwide who took AP Exams per- formed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.

From AP:

Three students qualified as a National AP Scholar by earning at least a four on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Jay Moore, Maria Reitz and Aryanna Thompson serve as only the third, fourth and fifth students in district history to achieve this level of recognition.

Eleven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Isabella Brennan, Erika Hill, Porter Hughes, Troy Lemieux, Jay Moore, Andrew Przekora, Maria Reitz, Benjamin Schultz, Aryanna Thompson, Marley Warren and Juliette Woodcum.

Six students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Carmyn Barber, Paige Demers, Isaac Francis, Noelle McClellan, Jordan Richards and Morgan Turk.

Forty-four students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Hannah Baldwin, Olivia Barbera, Melissa Bizoukas, Jordan Blaine, Zoe Bommarito, Claire Campbell, Audrey Courneya, Amina Dada, Nathan Datsko, Rebecca Deneweth, Kasey Deschler, Phillip Eickoff, Griffin Elequin, Gavin English, Carter Enright, Dylan Fuchs, Krystal Gates, Taylor Gerrity, Benjamin Hric, Alexander Huestis, Emma Jadach, Kira Jonatzke, Camdyn Lebelle, Prisila Lewis, Jane Lindsay, Sydney MacPherson, Gabrielle Malson, Samantha Marko, Lindsey McNulty, Trinity Mersmann, Michael Muston, Faith Nurenberg, Elaina O’Donnell, Jordan Olko, Morgan Pierce, Ian Smith, Brandon St Louis, Abbygail Sutton, Ava Tackabury, Thomas Tunison, Griffin Vanniman, Lindsey Willett and Shane Williams.

Seven students qualified for the AP Capstone Diploma by receiving scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams. The AP Capstone Diploma recipients are Gavin English, Dylan Fuchs, Porter Hughes, Troy Lemieux, Trinity Mersmann, Morgan Turk and Griffin Vanniman.

Two students qualified for the AP Seminar and AP Research Certificate by earning scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research. The AP Seminar and AP Research Certificate recipients are Gabrielle Malson and Nicole Watson.
