The Lapeer County Track Meet sponsored by The County Press and North Branch American Legion is a non-scored meet intended to highlight Lapeer County’s top track and field athletes.
Lapeer High School senior Alex Thomas fits that bill, not just this season but throughout her career at LHS.
Thomas was presented the female athlete of the meet award after placing first in the 100 meters (12.93), 400 meters (1:01.5), 200 meters (meet record 27.0) and being part of a meet record setting 4×200 relay team.
Thomas has school records in the 60 meter dash, 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters.
“We are very happy to have her on the track team full time this year,” said Coach Russ Reitz. “She’s a great kid.”
Thomas wil play soccer at Michigan State University.
