For the past two weeks Mrs. Bjork’s service learning class has been collecting items during iConnect to send to soldiers deployed overseas. Wednesday night, the Desert Angels group came to Zemmer to help the kids pack the boxes. Desert Angels is a non-profit group started by a mom who wanted to send care packages to her son when he was in the military. The students packed 65 boxes last night filled with everything from candy to beef jerky to socks to hand written letters to be sent to Afghanistan.
The project was especially meaningful to the students as they were able to sign a t-shirt and send a special package to Mr. Olson’s brother who is currently serving in Afghanistan. While it was a lot of work packing, taping and loading the boxes the students all said what a great experience it was. Way to go Zemmer students!
