LAPEER, Michigan — The hero of the Lapeer West’s biggest game of the year, its dramatic victory over Lapeer East last month, came through again in the second half against previously unbeaten Fenton on Friday night. Just seconds after Fenton scored to cut West’s lead to 14-13, Noah Raymond jumped the snap count on the extra point, sprinted through the middle of the line and easily blocked Fenton’s attempt.
West led by seven at the half and held on to win a share of the Metro League championship, 14-13. The Panthers (8-1) should host a first-round playoff game next week.
The Panthers played an unbelievable fourth quarter on the defensive end, standing up Fenton’s high-powered offensive in the game’s final two minutes.
