On July 27, the Lapeer Country Club will host the Scott Heverly Memorial Golf Outing with proceeds going to Madison Chind, a student at Schickler Elementary and Jon Kibby, a returning Army veteran.
Madison is a brave little six-year-old girl from Lapeer who was diagnosed in July 2011 with stage IV Neuroblastoma, a nerve cancer. For more than 18 months she underwent brain surgery, chemo therapy, and radiation treatments. Madison also underwent experimental programs that included two stem cell treatments where she was hospitalized for more than two months. That was very difficult for her, as you can imagine. Earlier this month marked two years of Madison being in treatment. She lost all of her hair during her treatments and her weight fell to 28 lbs. In January of this year following three days of blood work and scans, her Mom, Jamie received that long awaited and tearful news that Madison was free of cancer. The joyful news was a blessing from God but it does come with more concerns and stress. The cancer treatments damaged her liver, kidneys, and thyroid. She also has lost most of her hearing and will be visiting an audiologist to be fitted for expensive hearing aids.
We have set a goal to raise $10,000 to help subsidize Madison’s long term medical needs. Please consider supporting this cause and write a check to:
