Mr. Sweeney’s 8th Grade Service Learning class at Rolland-Warner Middle School recently organized a project to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. During late May, 8th grade students from Rolland-Warner raised money for the Hurley Navigation Fund. With the help of M & B Graphics of Lake Orion, the students designed and sold T-shirts and bracelets; the money went to the Fund. Shirts were sold for $10 and featured the breast cancer logo, while bracelets were 50 cents and were sold during the lunch periods.

Thank you to all those who donated their money, your help went above the goals set.

On Friday, June 7, those who bought T-shirts were asked to wear them; those who didn’t buy a shirt were encouraged to wear pink. The shirts and pink were in support of those afflicted with breast cancer. The support that day was a great and everyone is thanked for their participation.

The students were part of Mr. Sweeney’s Service Learning class. In the class students do projects that help their community and school. The class promotes volunteering and student leadership.
