On Thursday, members of the staff and PTC at Schickler Elementary in Lapeer gave away 65 bags full of educational treats to families as part of the school’s new “Take Out Academy.” Several businesses in the community and the school’s PTO donated the bags and everything in them.

The sponsors of the event hope they can inspire other school’s to do the same to get students and their families excited about reading.

The group’s next event will be Thursday, May 16. They will give away writing bags.
