LCS Superintendent receives high marks on recent Board of Education evaluation

lcs new logoThe Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education has concluded and reviewed its annual evaluation of Superintendent Matt Wandrie, who joined the District in the summer of 2011.

Wandrie received high performance scores from the Board of Education and other groups of stakeholders, including students, in all of the areas evaluated: Educational Leadership, Staff Relations, Community Relations, Board Relations, Business and Finance, Personal Qualities and Goal Achievement.

With Wandrie at the helm, the District has embarked on an ambitious four-year strategic plan to create a world-class program for students and, concurrently, putting LCS on a solid financial footing for the future. The plan includes the future consolidation of the District’s two traditional high schools due, in large part, to the decline in enrollment and revenue needed to operate separate facilities.

The Board concluded that the District, in spite of the challenges ahead, is moving in a positive direction. President Mike Keller, speaking on the Board’s behalf, praised Wandrie for his advocacy for students and his willingness to meet challenges head on.

“Lapeer Community Schools is moving toward our goal of being the district of choices for all by expanding opportunities and providing exciting and challenging rigor,” Keller said. “The Board commends Mr. Wandrie for providing his strong and effective leadership within our organization during these difficult economic and political times.”

  1. Mr. Wandrie is doing a phenomenal job! It’s tough to take on challenges, especially when most are not in favor of change. Great leaders make tough choices. I applaud Mr. Wandrie for leading with purpose and careful analysis. One of the greatest hindrances our country has faced is making tough decisions in advance of crisis. By making these transitions now our children will be afforded many more opportunities for years to come. At the end of it all, like all services in our country, we cannot spend money we do not have. Thank you for your commitment to LCS, our students, our staff, and the future of Lapeer.
