Students at Turrill Elementary School, now operating on a balanced (year-round) academic calendar, had their first opportunity to participate in Intersession this week as the majority of students at the school are on a break. The nearly 50 students that took part this week are learning about the great state of Michigan, its history, abundant natural resources and claims to fame. They also have the opportunity to show off their creativity with Michigan-themed craft activities.
Intersession is an excellent opportunity for parents of year-round students to take advantage of increased instructional time during breaks (year-round students have shorter, more frequents breaks than students on the traditional calendar).
On Thursday, author Johnathan Rand will pay a visit to Turrill during an assembly at 10 a.m.
