This morning, several members of the staff at Schickler Elementary held the inaugural “Boo Hoo Breakfast” for parents of E-5 and Kindergarten students. The purpose of the event is to spark interest in literacy in the home and, if the name didn’t already give it away, comfort parents and students on the first day of school — a big day for everyone involved.
Parents were given a light breakfast, a couple books to read to their students at home and also some literacy strategies for young students.
A special thanks to Schickler’s learning coaches (Kelly Vangel, Steve Smith and Cheryl Smith) for putting on a great event for the first day of school.
