Early Tuesday afternoon we received information that a prisoner at the Thumb Correctional Facility on work release walked off the job detail. At that time we were instructed by the police to place all schools in secure mode. This allows classroom instruction to continue as normal, though student transitions are limited and all entries and exits are closed and secured.
After assessing the situation, the police then advised us to release students at their normal dismissal time.
We will continue to take every precaution to keep students safe and you informed.
