Joe Long, a former standout on the gridiron at Lapeer East High School, parlayed an incredible career at Wayne State University into a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams over the weekend.
Long, whose older brother Jake (also an East graduate) is a Pro Bowl left tackle for the Miami Dolphins, will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot on a team now coached by Jeff Fisher.
Long’s career at Wayne State ended on a high note after he was recognized as the top Division II lineman in the country.
