Turrill Elementary students raise money for Earth Day movie

Second graders at Turrill Elementary recently funds to attend Disney’s Chimpanzee movie on Earth Day by recycling pop cans. The students will see the movie at Lapeer Cinemas on Friday.

According to Lisa Gonzales, a second grade teacher at Turrill, a lot of  students brought in cans as contribution to the cause, or brought in bottle slip returns as well.  The group raised $ 200 which covers the cost for admission, popcorn and pop for all students.

In addition, the second grade class is having a popsicle and pop sale Wednesday and Thursday to finish off cost for another classroom to attend.
