The third and fourth grade Readers and Writers Club is in full swing at Lynch Elementary with over 30 eager club members. Tammy Berry, the school’s Learning Coach, is dedicated to quality after school programs. Her goal is to encourage and challenge students to get students excited about literacy. Mrs. Berry is thankful to have many volunteers including some NHS students from East High School and a retired teacher, Mrs. Jamison.
The Club motivates and inspires children to learn about great authors, emulate their examples by composing their own written pieces, build confidence in the writing process, and see themselves as life-long learners who are self-motivated to read and write. Currently, students are creating a slideshow entitled “We Are Lynch” which has been adapted from the text “I am America” by Charles Shaw, Jr. The club’s published work will be presented at the talent show on March 23rd. Here’s what some club members think about writing club…
Hunter Giddings: “It’s so much fun and I love getting the extra help!”
Meghan Keeley: “I love having the time to really think about what I am writing and then seeing it put into the Prezi made me so proud!”
Ellery King: “I love being with Mrs. Berry she makes writing fun!”
