LAPEER, Michigan — This morning marked the culmination of a dream for two Lapeer West student-athletes.

Seniors David Price and Kyle Swailes put pen to paper, signing their letters of intent to play football at the next level.

“Both of these guys have worked incredibly hard, along with their parents, to get to this level,” said Mike Smith, West head football coach. “In both their cases, I think this has been a dream for a long time.”

Price, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end, signed with Missouri University of Science and Technology. He was a 4-year varsity starter (tight end and defensive end) and honor student at West. He was also a first-team all-conference performer as a senior.

Swailes, who signed with Saginaw Valley State University, did it all for the Panthers on the gridiron. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder was a punter, place kicker, wide receiver and defensive back.

Swailes is also an honor student at West and was made second team all-conference as a wide receiver.

“I know these guys are going to do great in school, so football is just a bonus,” Smith said. “I know they are going to represent our school and our program well.”

Congratulations to both of these student-athletes. Go West!
