The contestants numbered 216. They included secretaries, teachers, paraprofessionals, retirees, media specialists, administrators, Lapeer East and West alumni, and parents of our Lapeer Community students. Together on Friday, November 11th, they participated in the first ever LCS Trivia Night at the Lapeer Center Building. Over $3,000 was raised to support Lapeer East and Rolland-Warner athletics. This was a fun social event that brought people from all over Lapeer together to join in an evening of trivia, dancing, singing and fellowship.
Special thanks goes out to our volunteers, Scott Taylor (husband of RWMS assistant principal), for emceeing the event, Matt and Christie Wandrie for working concessions, Jan Hart (RW secretary) for working the registration table, selling trivia clues, and doing anything else that needed to happen, Gregg and Kim Tvdolvsky from Lake Orion Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling for donating the food for concessions and helping out, Jennifer and Steve Malson (RW and Murphy parents) for helping out with concessions and clean-up, Sue Strump (wife of RW principal) for helping out with scoring, and our DJ, John Elliott, (Lapeer East alumni) for donating his services for the evening. Many other staff and community members donated their time and money to make this night a success including Innovations stylist, Cathy Cholewka (Lapeer East alumni), Al Roper (dad of East principal), Louie’s, Lake Orion Sign & Banner, and Rolland-Warner PTC.
The winning team for the trivia getting almost 80% of the questions correct was headed up by Bill Kinzer, Lapeer West history teacher and several Lapeer alumni. The second place team was only one point behind the leader led by Mary Moss (East secretary) and including LCS employees Karen Revitzer, Terrie Hazard, Diane Taylor, Robin Check, and Steve Shabel.
The team winning the Spirit Award was The Red Hot Trivia Peppers and included teachers Sally Wolfer, Sue Pittsley, Shawn Luxton, Cheryl Butterfield, Nancy Roberts, Rejean Wolski, Kristen Wilcox and Sommer Schons.
Thanks to everyone in the Lapeer family that made this event possible! Proceeds will go toward various “extras” for the athletic programs.
