Make a difference: OMNI Council members participate in Project Homeless

Recently, members of Lapeer Community Schools OMNI Council served their community by participating in Project Homeless.

Project Homeless is a community effort to help those in need. It is an annual event held at the Center Building where there is food and clothing available for those in need. Also there are community service organizations present to help with signing up for local services like Headstart and others. Our Omni students helped with unloading the food truck and organizing the food into categories of similar food items.

Organizers of Project Homeless were very appreciative of the help. The students gave two and half hours of their time to the project.

OMNI is a student-led group made up of students from all three LCS high schools: Lapeer East, Lapeer West and Lapeer Community High School. This group meets once a month to plan out service activities and to promote projects between the high schools including Battle of the Bands and the Omni Forum. Meetings are conducted by co-chairs, but everyone participates, giving their input on ways to help develop leadership skills in all students and identify concerns of students from Lapeer Community Schools.
