Check out this nice write-up on former Lapeer East standout Joe Long. A senior at Wayne State in Detroit, Long is among the top offensive linemen at the NCAA Division II level and is an NFL prospect.

Long may be able to follow in his brother’s footsteps to the NFL. Jake Long, also an East graduate, is an offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins.

Long, a senior offensive tackle, has helped Wayne State University to its highest NCAA Division 2 national ranking ever. The Warriors are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference heading into Saturday’s game at Oho Dominican and are ranked ninth in the latest American Football Coaches Association Poll.

Long was named a preseason Division 2 first-team All-American by the Consensus Draft Services and d2football.com. He was a first-team All-GLIAC pick last season.
