Science comes to life for kindergarten students in Mrs. Papke’s class at Turrill Elementary School on Friday, September 18. Science Alive instructor Mrs. Neill introduced the class to a tortoise, a snake and an armadillo along with a few other animals during the visit.

Mr. Chaffin’s fifth-grade class headed to the Skinner Lake Outdoor Education Center on Thursday, September 17, and netted some frogs, water bugs and a whole lot of fun.

The 2009 Lapeer Community Schools Distinguished Alumni Luncheon was held on Wednesday, September 16, at the Lapeer Armory-National Guard on W. Genesee Street.

The Meet the Teacher night at Zemmer Junior High School at Rolland-Warner drew lots of parents who came to see the new building and meet their child’s teacher.

Lapeer West junior Erica Miller demonstrated her skills on the ice during a Skating Exhibition September 13 at the Polar Palace.

Volunteers from the Lapeer East Hockey Team took to the ice against the Michigan Sled Dogs, a team of disabled hockey players who use sleds to play. The game was held at 3 p.m. September 13 at the Polar Palace.
