November 16: Letter to LHS Parents

Parents —

On Thursday, November 16, the District was made aware of a threatening message written in a bathroom stall at Lapeer High School. Once we were made aware of the message, District officials immediately began an investigation with the cooperation of law enforcement.

Upon a thorough investigation, the threat was deemed not credible.

As we have stated numerous times in the past, threats against schools are not something we can tolerate, even in a joking manner.

We want to assure you that the safety and security of our students and staff is, and always has been, our highest priority. As a District, we will continue to coordinate efforts with our law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our school and community.

In addition, we want to encourage all parents to communicate to students the serious consequences that accompany threats, verbal, written or otherwise. They will not be tolerated. Further, when students share these threats beyond the appropriate authorities, the investigative process becomes even more challenging.

Regards,

Matt Wandrie
Superintendent
