The Lapeer East concert and symphony bands received straight first division ratings (the highest rating) at this year’s district band festival, qualifying them for state band festival in May. Over 140 students participated in the festival. Both Concert band and Symphony band performed three prepared pieces of music in front of three judges in the audience.  Each judge gave the bands top marks.  

After the bands performed on stage they went into a sight reading room were they were given a piece of music to study for five minutes and then perform. The judge gave both bands a first division rating for sight reading as well.

Lapeer East Band Director Lyniece Fenner said she could not be more proud of the way the students performed.
