Two Mayfield Elementary students were surprised in class today with an early Christmas present they weren’t expecting. Jeff Stephen, a member of the Army National Guard, has been stationed in Mississippi since September in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan next month.

The students had been told that their uncle wouldn’t be coming home for Christmas this year, as he prepares for deployment to Afghanistan early next month.
